What is GS certification?
GS certification GS means “Geprufte Sicherheit” (safety certified) in German, and also means “Germany Safety” (Germany Safety). This certification is not mandatory and requires factory inspection. The GS mark is based on the voluntary certification of the German Product Protection Act (SGS) and is tested according to the EU agreed standard EN or the German industrial standard DIN. It is also a safety mark accepted by European customers.Generally, products with GS certification have higher sales prices and are more popular.
Therefore, the GS mark is a powerful sales market tool that can enhance customers’ confidence and desire to purchase. Although GS is a German standard, it is accepted by most European countries. In addition, on the premise of complying with GS certification, the ship ticket must also meet the requirements of the EU CE mark.
GS certification scope:
The GS certification mark is widely used and is mainly applicable to electrical products that come into direct contact with people, including:

The difference between GS certification and CE certification:
①Nature of certification: CE is a mandatory certification project of the European Union, and GS is a voluntary certification of Germany;
②Certificate annual fee: There is no annual fee for CE certification, but an annual fee is required for GS certification;
③Factory audit: CE certification does not require factory audit, GS certification application requires factory audit and the factory requires annual audit after obtaining the certificate;
④Applicable standards: CE is for electromagnetic compatibility and product safety testing, while GS is mainly for product safety requirements;
⑤Re-obtain certification: CE certification is a one-time certification, and it can be indefinitely limited as long as the product does not update the standard. GS certification is valid for 5 years, and the product needs to be retested and applied again;
⑥Market awareness: CE is the factory’s self-declaration of product conformity, which has low credibility and market acceptance. GS is issued by an authorized testing unit and has higher credibility and market acceptance.
